A few helpful details about care at The Remedi.
Getting started
Who is care at The Remedi designed for?
The Remedi offers physician-led care for people navigating persistent or complex gut-brain symptoms, including symptoms that overlap across more than one condition. You do not need to have every answer before beginning. The initial consultation is a place to review your experience, understand the clinical picture, and consider appropriate next steps.
Where is care available?
Care is offered virtually to patients located in New Jersey. You must be physically in New Jersey at the time of your visit. Some concerns may require an in-person examination or care from another clinician.
How long is the initial consultation, and what does it cost?
The initial consultation is 90 minutes and costs $600. This allows time for a detailed conversation about your symptoms, history, prior testing, and treatments, along with personalized recommendations.
What will I receive after my initial consultation?
You will receive a written summary and a personalized roadmap outlining the clinical considerations discussed, recommendations, and next steps. Depending on your needs, this may include further evaluation, treatment considerations, or follow-up with other members of your care team.
Do I need a confirmed diagnosis before beginning?
No. Some patients arrive with an established diagnosis; others are still looking for an explanation. The evaluation is guided by your symptoms, clinical history, and relevant findings rather than a diagnosis alone.
How should I prepare for my first visit?
Relevant medical records, prior test results, a current medication and supplement list, and a brief timeline of your symptoms can be helpful. These give context to our conversation without requiring you to organize every detail perfectly.
Ongoing care
What is included in ongoing care?
Ongoing care is $275 per month. It includes a scheduled 45-minute follow-up visit each month and messaging support between visits.
During follow-up, we review relevant testing, results, and your response to treatment. We adjust your care plan as needed, including medication management when clinically appropriate.
Will you order laboratory testing, diagnostic studies, or imaging?
Testing may be recommended when it is clinically appropriate and likely to help clarify the picture or guide care. Not every patient needs additional testing. Direct ordering through The Remedi is generally part of ongoing care, where results can be reviewed and followed up. Recommendations from an initial consultation can also be discussed with your primary care physician or other treating clinician.
Are labs, imaging, and medications included in the care fee?
The care fee covers the services described on the pricing page. Charges from laboratories, imaging facilities, pharmacies, and other outside providers are separate. Coverage and out-of-pocket costs depend on the service and your insurance plan; confirm these with the relevant provider or insurer before proceeding.
What is messaging support intended for?
Questions can arise between visits. Messaging is intended for brief, non-urgent questions related to your current care plan, such as clarifying a recommendation or sharing a relevant update. New symptoms, complex questions, or changes that require a fuller assessment may need an appointment. Messaging is not continuously monitored and should not be used for urgent concerns.
Will my care plan change over time?
It may. Follow-up is an opportunity to consider what has helped, what remains difficult, and whether new information changes the next step. Recommendations are individualized; the pace and extent of improvement vary, and a particular outcome cannot be guaranteed.
Practice details
Do you accept insurance?
The Remedi is a private-pay practice and does not participate with insurance or bill insurance directly. Payment for care is your responsibility. If you plan to seek out-of-network reimbursement, check your benefits and documentation requirements with your insurer in advance. Reimbursement is not guaranteed.
Can I use HSA or FSA funds?
Some medical care expenses may qualify for payment or reimbursement through an HSA or FSA. Eligibility depends on the expense and the rules that apply to your account. Please confirm with your plan administrator before using these funds; The Remedi cannot guarantee eligibility or reimbursement.
Does The Remedi replace my primary care physician or other specialists?
The Remedi provides focused care for gut-brain concerns and does not replace comprehensive primary care. Maintaining a primary care physician is important for preventive care, general health needs, and concerns that require an in-person evaluation. Relevant recommendations can be shared with your other clinicians, with your permission.
Is The Remedi appropriate for urgent medical concerns?
No. The Remedi provides scheduled outpatient care and is not an urgent-care or emergency service. Do not wait for a portal message or appointment if you need immediate assessment. For a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department. For other urgent concerns, seek prompt care from an appropriate local clinician.
